Ricardo Brown

Dr. Brown currently serves as the Associate Director of Bands at the University of Connecticut, where he works with the UConn Marching and Pep Bands. He brings an incredible depth of experience as both a performer and educator.
His DCI career has included performing with the Crossmen and The Cadets. As an instructor, he was part of The Cadets’ 2005 World Championship season and later taught with the Bluecoats from 2014 to 2021. Most recently, Dr. Brown served as Brass Caption Head for the Mandarins, leading the hornline to their highest placement and brass scores in corps history.

Ricardo Valentin

Ricardo is an active music educator, clinician, and trombone performer throughout Connecticut. A U.S. Army All-American on baritone in 2015, he performed with The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps and taught with Jersey Surf. He further honed his expertise by earning a BS in Music Education, a BA in Music, and an MA in Curriculum & Instruction with a focus in Music Education from the University of Connecticut.
Professionally, Ricardo serves as the Director of Bands and Theatre at Platt High School, directing marching, concert, and jazz bands as well as the theatre program. He also frequently serves as a guest clinician for high school programs in Connecticut and Colorado.

Christopher Stanley

Christopher Stanley is an accomplished musician, audio producer, and certified global Yoga and meditation leader with a deep commitment to integrating music and mindfulness. Operating out of New York City, Christopher brings over 20 years of experience to his diverse professional roles, blending artistry with wellness to create transformative experiences.
As a performer, Christopher has been involved in DCI since 2004 and family members within the activity through multiple generations including DCI Hall of Fame inductee, James Elvord. Chris has also collaborated with a range of award-winning artists, including Donnie McCaslin, Marvin Stamm, Kenny Garrett, Delfeayo Marsalis, Terence Blanchard, and Lalah Hathaway. His dynamic musical career spans genres and settings, from intimate performances to large-scale productions, showcasing his versatility and expertise.
Christopher is an active educator and clinician, frequently leading workshops, classes, and seminars both in New York City and across the nation. He is a music educator for BD Performing Arts and Conn-Selmer, a founding instructor of Yoga for Y7 Online, and a key contributor to Berklee Online’s “Wellness for Artists: Music, Movement, and Mindfulness” program. In these roles, he empowers musicians and artists to cultivate well-being through the integration of music, yoga, and mindfulness practices.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from Morehouse College (2011) and a Master’s degree in Studio Production from the University of Central Oklahoma (2013). Christopher’s extensive background in both music and wellness allows him to uniquely bridge the worlds of sound and self-care, offering a holistic approach to both artistic and personal growth.

Jessica Dickerson

Jessica Dickerson is thrilled to join the Connecticut Hurricanes brass education team. A former member of The Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps, she has spent the past decade on staff with the University of Connecticut Athletic Bands and holds a Master’s degree in Instrumental Conducting from UConn. Jessica is deeply committed to building inclusive musical communities and is especially passionate about mentoring students to become leaders in their community committed to providing opportunities for students in the arts.

John Herbert Molloy

John Herbert Molloy has a Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance from Montclair State
University.
John marched Trumpet and/or Soprano Bugle with The Cadets, Sunrisers, Bushwackers,
Caballeros, Reading Buccaneers, and Cadets2 and taught brass at The Santa Clara Vanguard,
Cadets2, The Cadets, Fusion Core, Bushwackers, Skyliners Alumni, Reading Buccaneers, and
The Oregon Crusaders.
A fun fact about him is that he was a samba whistle soloist, soprano bugle soloist, and
Mellophone instructor at Cadets2 Drum Corps for their championship season in 2016! He was
inducted into The Buglers Hall of Fame in 2019 and The Cadets Hall of Fame in 2020. He
considers both of these inductions a huge honor, and an inspiration to stay involved with this
beloved activity.
John has a huge amount of passion and gratitude for the marching arts. He is currently an
instructor with The Watchung Hills Regional High School Marching Warriors in Warren, NJ. He is also the head brass instructor at The New York Skyliners Alumni Corps and is celebrating 28
years of continuous Drum Corps involvement overall.
John is honored to be spending his first ever season working with the brass section at The
Connecticut Hurricanes under the leadership of the great Dr. Ricardo Brown, whom he has
shared a long term musical friendship with since they marched lead trumpet together in 2001 at
The Cadets.
