Production Manager

Joe Brown

Joe Brown (Jobama) has been part of the marching arts community for over two decades, dedicating his career to performing, teaching, designing, and supporting programs that inspire performers to reach their full potential. His journey began at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk, Connecticut, where his passion for music and performance first took shape. Those early experiences sparked a lifelong commitment to the activity and the community that surrounds it.

Joe joined the Connecticut Hurricanes Drum and Bugle Corps, where he marched from 2000–2003 and again from 2006–2010. He later transitioned into a management role with the organization in 2011 and 2012, helping guide and support the corps from behind the scenes while giving back to the group that shaped so much of his early experience.

Since 2006, Joe has served as a visual judge for USBands and several other competitive circuits, offering insight and feedback to help programs grow both artistically and competitively. Judging has allowed Joe to connect with educators and performers across the region and to continually learn from the evolving artistry within the marching arts.

Throughout his career, Joe has also taught and designed for a number of outstanding ensembles, including Brien McMahon High School (CT), Northern Valley High School (Demarest, NJ), Rahway High School (NJ), the Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps, and more recently, Jersey Surf. Each of these experiences has shaped Joe’s approach to education and design, reinforcing his belief that the best programs are built on trust, collaboration, and creativity.

Currently, Joe is in his fourth year at Elizabeth High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where he serves as Program Coordinator. In this role, he helps shape the vision, design, and overall direction of the program while working closely with students and staff to build an environment of excellence and pride.

This year also marks an especially meaningful milestone for Joe as he returns to the Connecticut Hurricanes—the organization where it all began—to serve as Production Manager. Stepping back into a design capacity with his home team has been both exciting and deeply rewarding, allowing him to reconnect with familiar faces and contribute to a program that began his drum corps journey.
