Statement of Purpose:

Induction is intended to recognize and honor past or current members for their outstanding dedication and service to the Corps, as well as individuals who’ve demonstrated a significant and/or sustained effort to the betterment of the Connecticut Hurricanes Drum & Bugle Corps

Eligibility:

The following factors will be considered for selection to the Hall of Fame;

1. The nominee must have participated or is participating in the membership of the Connecticut Hurricanes Drum & Bugle Corps, or,

2. The nominee must have made a significant contribution to the betterment of the Connecticut Hurricanes Drum & Bugle Corps, or,

3. The nominee must have made a significant contribution to the activities of the DCA and/or the marching arts community and displayed a conduct and integrity that positively reflects his/her association with the Connecticut Hurricanes Drum & Bugle Corps.

4. In conformance with past practice, if the nominee is or has been an employee or contractor of the Connecticut Hurricanes, he/she shall be vetted by the same standards as the membership.

Process of Nomination:

1. An online form application shall be created and located on the Hurricanes website to accommodate all pertinent information. Applications may be submitted electronically to a designated recipient (at this time it is rbradley@yorklab.com) as listed on the submission or mailed to R Bradley, 2 Spruce Brook Rd. Seymour, Conn. 06483.

2. All nominations must be submitted on the approved formand submitted by Sept. 1st for consideration in that calendar year. All applications received will remain on an approval eligibility file for future consideration.

3. All nominations shall be reviewed, validated and refined, as necessary, by an appointed screening committee in order to provide a complete and fair profile to the voting members. The screening committee shall consist of 7 HOF members appointed by and including the chairman. (R Bradley)

(note, “refining” refers to those applications received that do not clearly or adequately summarize or articulate a nominees qualifications….a good faith effort for a level playing field)

4. Applications finalized and approved by the screening committee, shall be presentd to the voting body no later than September 15th.

5. The voting body shall consist of all surviving members of the Connecticut Hurricanes Hall of Fame (44 living members as of July, 2014)

Approval and Induction:

1. Each voting member shall cast five individual votes. To qualify for induction a nominee must receive a majority of 70% approval by the responding voting members. Only the number of responding voters will be used as a basis for calculating results. (Example…if only 20 members cast a vote, 14 would be required for acceptance)

2. Members of the voting body are not required to cast all five of their allotted votes.

3. Nominees who fail to attain the required majority shall maintain their eligibility for future consideration for a period of five years. Thereafter, a new application must be submitted.

4. Newly elected members shall be announced on the Hurricanes website by October1st.

And the induction will be formalized at the Hurricanes Annual Awards Banquet.

5. A plaque and jacket patch representing the honor will be presented.
