The Connecticut Hurricanes completed a very successful weekend with a firm third place finish in Scranton Saturday night and then scoring a huge win in Secaucus, N.J. Sunday afternoon. The honor guard remained undefeated in 2010 with their victory in Scranton and on Sunday the Hurricanes swept every caption in their victory. The horn line scored their first victory this season in Secaucus and took a huge step forward in total score. The results from Scranton were Buccaneers- 93.40, Empire Statesmen- 91.638, Hurricanes- 90.050, Caballeros- 88.550, and Bushwackers- 84.113. Sundays scores were Hurricanes- 92.300, Caballeros- 90.863, Bushwackers- 86.675, and Fusion Core- 83.050. This week the Hurricanes are hosting their home show at Kennedy Stadium in Bridgeport on the final weekend of regular season competition. Competing corps will be the Hurricanes, Caballeros, Bushwackers, and the Kidsgrove Scouts from England.
Fanfare Chairman Bob Bradley announced today that the arrangements for the Fanfare 2010 Drum & Bugle Corps show have been finalized. The show will be bigger than ever and will feature 11 different organizations. Due to the number of participants this year the show time has been moved up to 6:30 pm.
This years’ show will begin with three quality High school bands: Brien McMahon HS, Trumbull HS and Norwalk HS. Following the bands, the New York Skyliners Alumni Corps and the Bayonne Bridgemen Alumni Corps will perform. Subsequent to their performances, the competitive portion of the program will feature four corps: the Kidsgrove Scouts, the Bushwackers, the Hawthorne Caballeros and our own Connecticut Hurricanes.
We are excited to introduce the Kidsgrove Scouts who are making their first appearance in the USA. Kidsgrove was the 2009 Drum Corps UK (DCUK) champions. Their appearance in the USA at our show marks the first time an international corps has appeared in Connecticut as a competitor. Kidsgrove is also celebrating their 100th anniversary this year! Kidsgrove will be arriving in the USA on August 24 and will be on tour at our show and finish up at DCA Champioships in Rochester, NY over Labor day weekend.
Following the competitive programs, two final exhibitions by the Connecticut Alumni and the Park City Pride will carry us into our awards ceremony.
Of note is that ticket prices will remain the same with the exception of some lower sections which will be offered at a reduced price structure. Click on the Fanfare 2010 link for ticket information. Tickets will go on sale July 1, 2010.
We look forward to a great night of drum corps!
"The Hurricanes would like to congratulate John Oddo on recently being named one of the 2010 inductees to the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame. John was an instructor for the Corps during 1993 and 1994 season as well as a consultant in the 2009 season. It is honor that is well deserved. Congratulations to John!!
The Hurricanes would like to congratulate all of the other 2010 inductees, especially James Gruber of the Buccaneers, as well!"
